Budding gardeners will delight in getting their hands dirty in this exploration of ecology! This class is designed to teach students about the complex and fascinating ecosystem to which we, as humans, also belong and from which we draw our food. We will grow our own food, learn about nutrition, and investigate soils, weather, insects and birds. Using the working classroom garden at Springhurst Elementary School, we will examine the light, soil life-cycles of plants and more. Classes will take place both indoors and out, depending on weather and lesson.
Class Notes: Requires some sitting and listening time. Involves handling food, soil, plants and other gardening materials. Hands will get dirty! Class will move from indoors to outdoors. Group-based and individual activities during the program.
